27 Napier Harriers took part in the NICC Champs in Taupo last Saturday with some good running by our members in great fine running conditions.
We do not know our club result as yet but overall we seemed to do OK. The numbers taking part in many of the races appeared to be down on last year.
Our 10 year olds got the day off to a good start with Stella Marshall getting off to a solid start and maintained her effort to finish well in 10th place in 4m 19s with Sophia Moore placing 28th in 5m 21s. The 10 year old boys found the competition a little tough but they competed well which resulted in Tyler Annand 19th, Jonathon Moore 23rd and Ryan Jones 28th all running 1k.
Ollie Marshall carried on from his sister and placed 8th in the Boys 12 2k race in 7m 35s closely followed by team mates Adam Barron 11th in 7m 57s, Kingston Webb 13th in 8m 01s and Ayden Jones 19th in 8m 45s.a
Kate Bassick was 25th in girls 12 race in 10m 56s
Bradley Christison jetisoned to the front a bit too quickly and paid the price and finished 6th in the Boys 14 3k race in 10m 27s with Dylan Barron 16th in 11m 37s and Josh Keating 20th in 12m 50s.
In the Womens 18 grade the competition was solid with Roisin Pearson having a good steady race to place 13th in 16m 08s followed by Laura Langley 21st in 16m 59s, Kaya Shlomi 26th in 17m 56s with Georgia Creagh 32nd and Luca Beerman 34th over the 4k distance.
Christian Leopard had the best run of the day for our club to place 4th in the Mens 18U 5k race in 16m 21s.
Luisa Salis-Soglio was 18th in 23m 55s over 5K in the Womens race and also collected a spot prize at the prize-giving.
We hade a few in the various Masters grades races over 6k with Jeremy Moore 6th in 24m 18s in the Mens 35-39, Shane Bassick 16th in 24m 56s in Mens 40-44 and Giles Pearson 11th in 24m 30s in the Mens 45-49, Roger Morrison 8th in 24m 46s in Mens 50-54, Steve Lindsay 9th in 27m 49s in Mens 55-59 and Wayne Smith 9th in 29m 54s in Mens 60-64.
Full results will be on the Taupo Harrier web site soon as only provisional results available at the time of this report but doubt much would change.
