Specsavers Hastings & Total Food Equipment Queens Birthday Road Race (2nd Open Handicap) – 3 June 2013
The annual Queens Birthday Road Race was held in perfect conditions on Monday 3rd June. Due to road works on the Marine Parade it was a slightly adjusted 4.5km course. There was a separate 2km course for the 12/u age group and a 1km course for the cubs.
The 4 cubs raced over a 1km course with Matthew Marshall and Timothy Moore tying in first place, followed by James Bassick and Noah Green
The 12/u boys and girls race was contested by 25 runners, Milla Green started first and held the lead all the way to the end with a clock time of 11m 43s. Ryan Jones came in 2nd and Tyler Annand was 3rd. The fastest girl on the day was Sophie Bassick with a time of 8m 39s and the fastest boy was Oliver Marshall in 7m 10s.
There were 13 runners in the 14/u Boys, 16/u Men and 19/u Men's category, this race was 1 lap of the 4.5km course and was taken out by Todd Douglas, with Alex Langley in 2nd place and Thomas Moore in 3rd place. The fastest time on the day went to Toa Elphick- Iaveta with a time of 15m 54s.
Annie Creagh was the winner of the 4.5km Girls 14/u, Women 16/u and Women 19/u race, with Louise Hancock coming in 2nd and Monique Way in 3rd place. There were 9 runners contesting this race, the fastest time of the day went to Monique Way in 20m 54s.
The Senior/Masters Womens 4.5km race was contested by 13 runners, Tonia Tikkun finished 1st for her first win, followed by Gina Finlayson in 2nd place and Joan Vyle in 3rd place. The fastest runner was Emma Mackie in a time of 18m 57s.
22 runners contested the Senior/Masters Mens 9km race, this was 2 laps of the 4.5km course. Rob Stephenson started first and was still in the lead at the end of first lap but the race was won by Michael Lintott, followed by Mark Lane and Alex Kay. The fastest time in this category went to Kristian Day with a time of 32m 11s.
