Napier Harriers Noel Leeming/ Reading Cinemas Mission Estate Cross Country Races
Napier Harriers dominated the annual Noel Leeming/ Reading Cinemas inter-club cross country races at the Mission Estate Winery on Saturday in good running weather on the new course.
This annual event resulted in the Napier club scoring 177 points with 77 runners competing to Hastings 68 points with 15 runners facing the starter throughout the grades.
The 4km Masters Womens race was probably the pick of the racing and after a closely fought battle Annie Kane finished in 19m 06s, edging Corrina Alexander into 2nd place in 19m 13s, with Marilyn Brown 3rd in 20m 03s. The 6km Masters Mens race was dominated by Phil McKay of Hastings with a time of 22m 51s over Craig Mathers in 2nd with a time of 24m 28s and Shane Bassick closely behind in 3rd in 24m 59s
Laura Langley of Napier Harriers won her grade of women 16 and under by 3min over the 4km course in 16m 24s.
The Boys 12 and under grade was dominated by Napier Harriers who took out the top 6 placings, Oliver Marshall was first in 8m 06s, while the girls 12 and under grade was won by Holly Bensemann from Hastings in 8m 41s
The Cubs race for 7 years to 9 years age group had 11 runners competing and was won by Jack Cornforth in 4m 13s.
